Local Economy

There is a number of thriving industries in Rosemount. The Pine Bend Refinery is a major employer in Rosemount, which is the largest oil refinery in Minnesota. Some of the other major industries include Flint Hills Resources (formerly Koch Refinery), SKB (industrial waste containment facility), Spectro Alloys, Hawkins Chemical, Greif Brothers (multiwall bags), and the regional home base for the National Guard.

An 80-acre business park also houses a number of well known employers, including Geometrix, and Proto Labs. Many residents also commute to the Twin Cities, which is a mere 15 miles away, making for an easy morning commute.

Education

Rosemount is a part of the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district (Independent School District #196), a state and nationally recognized E-12 public school district. Residents also have access to several private and parochial schools in the area.

For higher education, residents may attend Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Argosy University, Brown College, and St. Catherine University.

Attractions

There is always something to do or see in Rosemount! Home to numerous events throughout the year, Rosemount is known for its rather quirky festivals. The most famous of these is Leprechaun Days, a 10-day festival that celebrates the summer months and the friendly community of Rosemount. Leprechaun Days includes the Grand Day Parade, Mid-Summer Faire carnival, food, music, and sporting events. The Rosemount Area Arts Council hosts craft fairs, plays, concerts, and literary readings throughout the year.

Since Rosemount is a mere 15 miles away from the Twin Cities, there are even more attractions to see! The Mall of America has the largest mall in the entire nation with ample shopping opportunities?truly an ideal shopping experience for anyone who is in need of some retail therapy!

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum features beautiful specialty gardens, and the Minnesota Zoo is an animal lover's paradise. Open year round, the zoo includes more than 2,900 animals from all over the world. US Bank Stadium (which is the new home of the Vikings), Target Center (which is home to the NBA Minnesota Timberwolves) and WNBA Minnesota Lynx feature year round entertainment.

Parks and Recreation

Home to 23 gorgeous parks, 270 acres of the Spring Lake Regional Park Preserve, and numerous walking and biking paths, Rosemount is truly the ideal place to live for nature lovers. Bordered by the Mississippi River, the Spring Lake Regional Park Preserve is a beautiful place to run, hike, bike, and picnic.

Rosemount's residents also engage in many recreational sports and take classes at the local community center, and ice skaters adore skating at the local ice arena. Golfers will enjoy the Emerald Greens Golf Course, where residents can also take lessons to improve their par! There are also a number of various programs, activities and trips for senior citizens in Rosemount.
